Gambia tea, also called bulukutu, grows in the savannahs of West and Central Africa. It is an aromatic plant of the Verbenaceae family, rich in essential oils, with a very rapid growth cycle and multiple virtues.

 THE OF GAMBIA

Gambia Tea, Lantanier, Corbeille d'Or or Mille-fleurs are its names.

Originally from India, it was introduced to Europe in the 1690's. Gambia tea is an ancient crop that was already popular in the great gardens of the Renaissance and requires little maintenance.

It is a freeze-thaw plant and can only be grown in the open ground in warm regions. In other regions, it must be overwintered in a frost-free environment or simply grown as an annual.

With its exceptional aroma, the infusion Gambia tea is excellent for good digestion and peaceful sleep. This plant has many therapeutic virtues: it helps to treat flu, fever and malaria. It is also known as a slimming tea. Gambia tea, also known as bulukutu, is a herbaceous, sub-woody perennial plant that grows spontaneously in the Sudanian savannah areas of West and Central Africa. It is an aromatic plant of the Verbenaceae family, rich in essential oils, with a very rapid growth cycle and multiple virtues: antimalarial, digestive, anti-inflammatory, among others.

Gambian tea is highly valued by Africans for its many virtues

Therapeutic. Very effective as a preventive against flu, fever, malaria. High blood pressure, fatigue.

It acts on the digestive system: Helps digestion, protects and rebalances the intestinal flora, helps prevent ulcers, prevents bloating.

Nervous system: anti-stress effect, soothing effect, laxative, anxiolytic; hypotensive properties (helps lower blood pressure), reduces fever.

Detox effect (detoxification): frees the body of its toxins, burns and eliminates fat

Energising effect: booster for the body.

Analgesic effect: traditionally used to soothe menstrual pain and toothache...

Appetite suppressant: During the fasting period, the hot drink of the leaves of the savannah tea, allowed to avoid hunger and to hold during the working day, but, especially, gives the appetite at the time of the rupture of a fast. Muscle relaxant.

It has diuretic properties and is often used in cases of liver failure.

For a 250ml cup you have :

17.5mg of calcium important for the teeth and bones, a beneficial influence in case of premenstrual disorders, reduces the risk of kidney stones, helps with insomnia and contributes to weight loss, essential for the absorption of vitamin B12 and iron.

20mg sodium prevents thyroid disorders as a source of iodine, protects oral health, maintains a balanced level of hydration in the body, fights colds.

75mg magnesium regulates the level of lipids and glucose in the blood, beneficial in case of stress and anxiety, helps to recover energy, stimulates vitamins

It is used in the form of an infusion by pouring hot water over the fresh or dried plants or as a decoction by boiling the non-flowering leafy stems for 5 minutes in hot water, to be taken 3 cups a day with meals.
