Green coffee is the ripe fruit of the coffee tree, a shrub native to Ethiopia and growing on the high plateaux of tropical areas. It is a small evergreen tree that produces fruit called "coffee cherries". These contain two pits containing the green coffee beans, which are picked when ripe, dried and then broken to recover the beans. Green coffee is not roasted, so it retains all its natural goodness. When roasted, coffee loses two essential components, cafestol and kahweol.

The consumption of green coffee is not recommended for children.
No known side effects if you drink no more than 4 or 5 cups a day.
